This stunning large-scale antique copperplate engraving offers a masterful 18th-century view of one of London’s most iconic landmarks. Engraved by Benjamin Cole (indicated by the signature “B. Cole facit”), this piece was published in 1760 as a prominent folding plate for the third edition of William Maitland’s renowned History and Survey of London.Based on the celebrated 1747 painting by the Venetian master Canaletto, the scene captures the grandeur of the original Westminster Bridge shortly after its opening in 1750.
