Born in London, he was a landscape artist who studied under J. Absolon. He lived in Bletchingley & Redhill and sketched in Surrey, Kent & Yorkshire. He was elected Associate & Member of the NWS in 1847 & in 1849, but moved to OWS in 1855, becoming a full member in 1858. He exhibited some 800 watercolours in London from 1844.
