He was born in Birmingham. He painted landscape & marine scenes working in London & St. Ives. He studied at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art and at the Slade in London under Alphonse Legros. He exhibited from 1880 at the Royal Academy, from 1881 Suffolk Street, New Watercolour Society, New Gallery, New English Art Club & elsewhere. His paintings are in museums in Barcelona, Bradford, Brighton, Cheltenham, Dublin, Hull, Walker AG, Oldham & Wellington New Zealand.
