Anna Dixon RSW (1873-1959)

Painter who was born in Edinburgh. Anna Dixon studied at the Royal Scottish Academy Schools under Charles Mackie, William Walls and E. A. Walton.

She exibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Royal Scottish Academy, Aberdeen Artists Society, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and Royal Society of Women Artists. She was elected President of the Scottish Society of Women Artists, 1930-42 and was also an elected member of the Royal Society of Women Artists 1917.

Her genre paintings many of which were in watercolours, often depicted the crofting villages of the Scottish western highlands showing children and horse-drawn vehicles. Examples of her work are in Paisley Art Gallery.
