London marine & landscape painter. Born in Nottingham, where he first worked in a lace factory. Studied under Henry Dawson & settled in London in the 1860’s. He exhibited at the RA, but more often at SS, where he showed nearly 100 works. In 1893 a comprehensive exhibition of his work was held at the Nottingham Museum.
