A Caricaturist in the manner of H. Bunbury, he came to London where he achieved popularity with his social satires. He lived a dissolute life & died, a broken man in body & estate, in a public house.
His drawing, which was much influenced by Rowlandson, relies on heavy black outlining, but it is full of life & imagination. His work was often etched by Rowlandson & by Isaac Cruikshank.
Examples of his work are in the British Museum, Fitzwilliam, Leeds City Art Gallery, Newport Art Gallery & elsewhere.
