He was a glassmaker, tapestry worker & designer of carpets, textiles etc. for Morris & Co. Pupil of William Morris. Became partner in the firm & manager of the works at Merton Abbey. Designed stained glass windows at Glasgow University, Troon Church & Rugby School Chapel. He was responsible for designing many of the wallpapers for Morris & Co. although many have since been attributed to Morris himself.
