Painter of landscapes, rustic subjects & portraits; he studied in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, & was later Principal of the Grosvenor Life School.
His impressionistic yet forceful style & his choice of robustly rustic subjects shows the influence of his French training. His pictures resemble those of Clausen, Stott & the Newlyn School.
He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Suffolk Street, New Watercolour Society, New English Art Club & elsewhere.
